Area Sales Manager - Midwest

What challenges can you expect?

An Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for the turnover of the respective Reinhausen product spectrum in his/her designated region or customer group, paying particular attention to strategic guidelines and business sustainability. This territory will be the Midwestern region. 

Essential Functions:     

  • Understand and lead MR’s sales strategy in the designated region or customer group.
  • Improve customer acceptance and/or preference for MR products in regard to technical specifications.
  • Identify and develop market opportunities.
  • Create and implement measures for expanding and securing business. 
  • Analysis of regional developments and developments of future scenarios. 
  • Close cooperation with product managers and initiation of product innovations. 
  • Develop long-term sales measures and close delivery agreements in close cooperation with the Head of Area Sales Management responsible for price up.
  • Conduct regular customer visits in order to build strong customer relationships.
  • Organize and support customer visits at MR when necessary.
  • Advise customers on Reinhausen Products and Services, where necessary also including internal Reinhausen experts. 
  • Secure offer preparation (commercial and technical accuracy) and pursue offers. 
  • Advise and manage sales representatives in the designated region when applicable. 
  • Compile and f customer projects including entries in Reinhausen’s project database (CRM).
  • Present product information and carrying out customer trainings, where necessary including experts (CST, CSO, Application Engineering, EVA). 
  • Conduct sales negotiations. 
  • Conduct market research for the purposes of developing sales and marketing   strategies.
  • Promptly forward information regarding competitor products, market activities and prices to the marketing department.
  • Attend and participate in exhibitions and expert conferences in the region.
  • Prepare customer presentations and professional articles for expert conferences or trade magazines.
  • Support the TC sales department within the scope of consulting services when it comes to complex applications, also at customer’s site, training as well as supporting the integration of special customer requirements / specifications.
  • Analyze outstanding payments and implementation of appropriate procedures when applicable.
  • Monitor complaint management in the designated region or customer group.
  • Responsible for maintaining customer master data in the designated region or customer group. 
  • Participate in the sales and budget planning in his / her designated region or customer group. 
  • Create visit reports, market-, customer-, and competitor analysis. 
  • Manage and lead special technical projects (e.g. phase shifter, monitoring) at customers.
  • Conduct commissioning according to personal qualifications and the effective guidelines.
  • Process failures in coordination with responsible complaint owner: troubleshooting by phone or on-site. 
  • Conduct training for colleagues (when applicable), customers and agents (when applicable).

Physical Demands:       

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 
  • This position is frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms to handle, feel and/or reach.  Some lifting of parts may be required when necessary; ability to lift a minimum of 35-50 lbs.  
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.  While performing the duties of his job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.


What do we expect from you?

Education:       

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering with additional business administration knowledge or extensive hands-on experience in the electrical power industry.

Experience:      

  • At least 5 years of industry experience in energy technology, control systems, substation design, transformer design, controls or commissioning of electrical equipment at site.    

Additional skills:

  • Business-fluent English.
  • Additional language skills desirable.
  • Sales-oriented, entrepreneurial attitude
  • Creativity and skill in negotiating situations
  • Personal responsibility and management skills.
  • Willingness and flexible to travel extensively domestically and internationally.
  • Confident comportment at customer.
