Business Development Manager Automation

What challenges can you expect?

The Business Development Manager Automation is responsible for developing and executing business strategies to grow our market share in the retrofit/refurbishment segment focused on digitalization and automation. He thereby supports the development of new business models based on detailed market and customer knowledge in an agile manner (build, measure, learn).

Strategic tasks

  • Development of a detailed business plan for the retrofit automation market together with the global team and management.
  • Support of the development, piloting, validation and scaling of strategies for global business development in the responsible business model in the assigned region 
  • Definition of target markets and customers, including derivation of business potential (addressable market, turnover, CM) and KPIs
  • Develop and execute business strategies to grow our market share in the retrofit segment focused on digitalization and automation.
  • Based on your experiences and market needs, support to establish a powerful project management organization for order/project fulfilment.

Operative tasks

  • Identify and engage with target customers, including channel partners (e.g. System Integrators, Service Providers) and operators in the energy-intensive industry or data centers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers within the industry.
  • Drive business development activities (develop a value proposition) to achieve revenue targets and market expansion goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to tailor solutions that meet customer needs and leverage our technological expertise.
  • In cooperation with a project team, coordinate and manage customer projects from a technical and commercial perspective, from initial concept through to implementation, ensuring the customer achieves the desired outcomes.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and industry developments to inform strategic decisions.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to enhance brand visibility and network with potential clients.
  • Provide insights and feedback to the product management team to ensure our offerings remain competitive and relevant.
  • Support of the continuous development of Key Accounts along the customer journey
  • Creation and conduction of presentations and training courses as a market/industry expert (trade fairs, expert forums, customers, internal)
  • Support in operational processing, e.g. contract, price, reference, partner, product, service and Service Level Agreements with Legal Services

Authorizations

  • Maintain of global Key Accounts via direct customer contact in coordination with the responsible sales representative
  • Support of the management, definition and the continuous development of the portfolio in close cooperation with product management 
  • Definition of the 4Ps in specific projects - extensive entrepreneurial freedom within the scope of the assignment
  • Independent market cultivation

What do we expect from you?

Education

  • Degree in electrical engineering, engineering or other industry-relevant subject areas

Work experience

  • Proven experience in business development within the energy sector, with a focus on digitalization and automation solutions.
  • Technical understanding of the customer application or customer ecosystem 
  • In-depth understanding of transformers, substations, and the energy infrastructure.
  • Strong affinity for sensor technologies and digital solutions.
  • Ideally experience abroad as well as experience in working with virtual international teams and clients
  • Extensive network of contacts within the energy industry, particularly among channel partners and operators.

  • Business fluent in English, further languages desired

  • Ability to communicate technical and market contexts convincingly to different addressees (management vs. technicians, operators vs. OEMs)

  • Forerunner: Get in contact with unknown customer segments and contacts and create a strong customer network in short time - be brave and use also MR unusual approaches to be successful, in necessary
  • Customer Understander: Create a strong customer needs orientated value proposition based on MR existing Automation portfolio in combination with MR service and components portfolio
  • Simplifier: prioritization, simplification and scalation of tasks and processes, overcome internal hurdles and resistance to establish a solution driven attitude (instead of product business) 
  • Connector: Communication and internal coordination is key - be always in trustful exchange with Sales, Automation and other business units. For internal order fulfilment project and coordination skills are mandatory.
