Environmental Health and Safety Manager
Location: Charlotte, NC
What challenges can you expect?

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects the Service facilities to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of inspections.
  • Develops health and safety policy and procedures for all areas of the Service Group.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover EAP, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  • Visits client locations prior to service technician(s) and during project implementation.
  • Meet with all Clients Head of Safety or Safety person(s) responsible for safety.
  • Train all RM Service Employees including but not limited to Area Sales Managers and other RM employees to ensure a safe working environment in each Service facility and client work sites.
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Manager to ensure all RM service employees are trained to meet RM, Industry and client requirements.
  • Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time, in a variety of environmental conditions
  • Must be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all safety and health matters.
  • Keep current on OSHA, Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Labor (DOL), and Center for Disease Control (CDC) compliance changes.
  • Be the focal point for all OSHA visits and/or audits.
  • Ensures all training and compliance material are immediately available for reference at all RM Service facilities.
  • Be the focal point for internal and external ISO audits and ISO Safety implementation.
  • Establish rapport with all internal and external customers including but not limited to OSHA, DOL, DOT and Building Inspectors.
  • Advise the Service Management Group on any changes to laws and regulations pertaining to safety and health.
  • Must be the SME for all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to their respective safety code.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What do we expect from you?

Required Edu

Education & Skill Requirements:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required including 15 years extensive experience in General Safety, Heavy Construction Safety, Utilities industry Safety including Critical Infrastructure Safety, and Electrical Safety.
  • Understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Human Resources related state and federal laws.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
  • Proficient and current on First-Aid, External Defibrillator (AED), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), OSHA 30, OSHA 10 hour Electrical OSHA Safety Leadership The Electrical Transmission and Distribution (ET&D) Partnership Safety Leadership in Action (SLIA)  Electric Transmission and Distribution (ET&D) Partnership 20-Hour Training OR
  • Must be able to complete the above mentioned training within 6 months or by date determined by the SOM.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Experience in Sub-Station Relay retrofitting, Transformer Service and Oil processing preferred.
  • OSHA-30 trainer credentials preferred
  • Confined Space Entry & Rescue trainer preferred
  • First-aid, CPR, BBP, AED trainer preferred
